Going slightly off topic as I didn't get my application form in on time to get the October addition, does anyone know why Programme Monthly doesnt have it's own forum?

I guess that'll be the away one then - which is the home one? I have every first class home from 54-55 bar a couple, and most of the "other" fixtures as well. Not so bothered about aways. TD

Bit of news on this programme, i was talking to the lad that sold it in Programme Monthly just before Christmas and he reckons that the fella that won the bid for the programme has now realised that he paid over the odds for it and now needs cash, so it might be put on ebay in the New Year. Dont think I'm breaking any confidentiality rules here but the seller told me he had numerous bids between £500 and £700 and none of these were successful !!!!!!!!!!
God only knows what it went for.
Thank god I've got a copy. ;D

I'm not keen on these silent auctions - who is to know what other people have bid and why should you have to pay well over the price of the next guy (if someone else bids) - strikes me as something that you have to be careful about.

I agree with TD, if the current bid is at £300, the next person should be able to know this and be able to bid say £310.
I know the programme is valued at arpund £300 but there is no way I would pay anything near £700 for it! I'd rather just wait till it comes up again.

But thats the problem I suppose, I know collectors who have been in the game for 30 years or more and they have never even seen a copy of this let alone see a copy advertised.
I havent got a problem with silent auctions in fact I much prefer them to ebay as you bid a set price that you cant go over and thats it unlike ebay where you can easily get drawn into a bidding war if your not careful.

I can help out on this one .... I actually sold this programme in Programme Monthly last year and was absolutely astounded by the response that it generated. I always knew it would go for over two hundred quid but I received at least 10 bids around the £600.00 mark and these didnt even come close to winning the programme. The lad that won the programme put a bid together of just under £600.00 but he also added many rare programmes from Everton's Tour of Australia, Canada & America, also included some pre war stuff so the total of the bid probably topped a grand. Now comes the strange bit .... he contacted me over the holidays saying he has over spent and did I want the programme back, I dont need the programme as I already have a copy. He has asked me if I would advertise it on his behalf either on ebay or in PM. I have agreed to this but havent heard anything from him for a couple of weeks. All seems a bit strange as this is a once in a lifetime programme - He wins it with a mad bid and then within a couple of months wants to sell it

"BIDDING HAS ENDED FOR THIS ITEM" WTF You can stop an auction at any time. BB is pretty straightforward guy (member here) but he must have had a good reason to stop the sale - there were no bidders anyway at the time. TD
